Now I know what you’re thinking, “but Juan, didn’t you already name the top 10 Under Armour Curry One kicks a few months ago?” Well, yes, but now we have the perspective of time to help us put together a more thorough list not to mention add all of the kicks that dropped since then. Besides, that list was more about the awesome Vines that Steph blessed us with this past season. Chris Paul probably doesn’t think they’re that great, but let’s focus on the good things.
Stephen Curry and Under Armour have a long way to go before all is said and done. We won’t have perspective until years from now and only then will we able to say if the Under Armour Curry One was a real game-changer or just a flash in the pan with the right athlete, the right brand and the right shoe at the right time. Open-minded sneakerheads – the ones who want to see everybody do good and make great stuff regardless of brand – want to see UA succeed. They’ll have to make better looking kicks, but overall there’s a lot of support for the Curry brand. So let’s take a look back at the Top 10 Under Armour Curry One Kicks. For reals this time…
10Under Armour Curry One “All-American”
If you’re not sure what this is, don’t be alarmed. Originally believed to be a PE for the kids selected to the Under Armour All-America Basketball Camp, this predominantly gold shoe made their way to retail with very little warning. Maybe if you had the Kicks On Fire app, you’d be on top of things like this… what?
9Under Armour Curry One “Golf”
According to those that know, Steph Curry is a pretty good golfer and loves the sport enough that Under Armour actually made a colorway that would work nicely on the links. Now if we can get Jordan Spieth to rock one of these, it’ll be the biggest basketball/golf crossover since the Air Jordan 6 Golf. It’ll be the only other basketball/golf crossover besides the Air Jordan 6 Golf, but yeah…
8Under Armour Curry One Low “Panthers”
Drawing inspiration from another team close to Curry’s heart, this unofficial homage to the Carolina Panthers is another pair that we would love to see in a different line of work, especially since fellow UA athlete Cam Newton is on a high right now as a leading NFL MVP candidate.
7Under Armour Curry One “Candy Reign”
Much like anybody under the age of 30 and doesn’t have to worry about things like blood sugar yet, Steph has an affinity for a candy that we can’t name because of legal reasons. This colorways is probably the most kid-friendly of the bunch, although we did see UA school Notre Dame wear it this past college basketball season.
6Under Armour Curry One “Home”
Prior to getting his own signature shoe, Steph wore the Under Armour Anatomix Spawn that featured a lot of Golden State-inspired colorways. Nearly all of them that made it to retail sold out. Up to that point, the idea of an Under Armour sneaker selling out in a mere day or less was unfathomable. But you know, he’s not a big deal yet according to some analysts out there because they were only limited in number. So UA did it again with the Curry One and again they’re a tough find. Limited or not, this matters…
5Under Armour Curry One “Father To Son”
Dell Curry is still the head of the Curry family and it shouldn’t come as surprise that we would see a colorway that takes us back to his days as a Charlotte Hornets. Before Kemba Walker became a member of Jordan Brand, we saw him rock this quite a bit. Hopefully, another Under Armour athlete of prominence makes his way to the Hornets so we can see the sequel on the court as well.
4Under Armour Curry One “Splash Party”
It’s a splash party and we’re all invited. It’s clearly the better half of the recently released “Championship Pack” by a country mile. Like, far and away better. Like, this shoe is Batman and that black and yellow one is Man-Bat.
3Under Armour Curry One “Dub Nation”
A callback to the great long-suffering fans in Oakland, this colorway might not be the most flashy compared to the kicks that were listed right before it, but those Warriors colors are just too good.
2Under Armour Curry One “Dark Matter”
Sure, it’s a recolored version of the first “Road” colorway that we were given during the Curry One reveal back in the January, but those colors were really good. At first glance, it looks like it could be a Warriors PE, but a closer inspection reveals a little more intricacy and care. It pulls off the galactic theme quite well, even if you can’t always see it.
