2024 Jeep Recon EV: Next-Gen Redesign & Release Date – The Jeep brand held an event on Thursday called Jeep 4xe Day, during which it detailed its aspirations to electrify its entire array of vehicles over the next five years.
That means new plug-in hybrid models for its existing portfolio, but the announcement of two new fully electric SUVs coming in 2024 was the highlight of the event. One of them is the speedy Wagoneer S, and the other is this boxy beauty, the all-new Jeep Recon, which is basically an all-electric Wrangler, but not quite.
According to Christian Meunier, the CEO of the Jeep brand, the Wrangler 4xe is “by far the most successful plug-in hybrid electric vehicle in the United States.” On the one hand, there is not much genuine rivalry in that market, since many automobile manufacturers have skipped forward directly to producing full-electric vehicles.
On the other hand, this demonstrates that consumers of the Wrangler have a taste for electrification and that the next obvious step is to develop an SUV that is totally electric and capable of off-road driving. Instead of just adding a larger battery to the already existing Wrangler 4xe model, Jeep decided to start from scratch when designing the new Recon.
Jeep is on a quest to become a global leader in the electrified SUV industry, and they are starting today by revealing a plan for its next generation of completely electric “4xe” cars. This is only the beginning of Jeep’s endeavors to achieve this goal. It is anticipated that the Jeep Recon would be the first brand-new electric car to hit the market in 2024.
The new electric Jeep will only be offered as a battery electric vehicle, so there is no need to hold out hope for a variant powered by gasoline to be released in the near future. Don’t worry, however; the car manufacturer intends to preserve its tough image even when it transitions to zero-emission vehicles.
According to a press release issued by Stellantis, the 2024 Jeep Recon will come standard with improved off-roading capabilities. These capabilities will include trail-rated capability with the Jeep Selec-Terrain traction management system, e-locker axle technology, underbody protection, tow hooks, and off-road tires, among other things.
The Recon will also come standard with a powertop that can be opened at the press of a button, doors and glass that can be removed, and the newest edition of the Uconnect system, which will include trail directions for popular off-road routes.
The outside of the 2024 Jeep Recon has a form that is similar of the present Jeep Renegade and a size that is comparable to that of the Grand Cherokee; however, we do not yet have any confirmation of its specifications. The sport-utility vehicle will be of moderate size and should include seating for five people.
2024 Jeep Recon EV: What We Know So Far
A recent announcement made by Jeep detailed the automaker’s plan to electrify every model in its lineup by the year 2025. Following a series of teases that alluded to the arrival of new electric vehicles, the company has now unveiled the first photographs and specifics of its most recent completely electric off-roader.
Built from the ground up as a battery electric vehicle (BEV) unique model on the STLA Large platform, the 2024 Jeep Recon is believed to represent the pinnacle of what can be accomplished in terms of tough capabilities and EV technology. Even though it is completely devoid of emissions from the exhaust, it has all of the Jeep DNA that allows it to take on the path less traveled.
The Jeep Wrangler 4xe is now the top-selling plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in the United States. As a result, the Recon, which takes its cues from the iconic Wrangler, leverages on decades of tradition to assist in the transformation of Jeep’s product range. Only the Rivian R1S may be considered a competitor at this time among the expanding class of electric off-roaders; however, more vehicles will enter the fray in due time.
When Is The 2024 Jeep Recon Coming Out?
It has not yet been officially revealed when the Jeep Recon will be made available to the public, but we do know that this will occur in 2023. The company claims that manufacturing won’t begin until the year 2024, and that it’ll be done right here in the United States of America. The beginning of 2023 will mark the beginning of reservations.
New Jeep Recon Exterior And Colors
The 2024 Jeep Recon is very obviously influenced by the legendary Wrangler, and it maintains some of the familiar appearance and presence that we are used to. However, we will be the first to confess that we also sense a glimpse of Ford Bronco Sport in the design of this vehicle.
However, the modern external design of the Jeep Recon is being hailed as evidence of the progression of where the brand has been, and the Recon is more of an exclamation point on the aesthetic trip that has been taken up to this time. Then, it appears appropriate to have an illuminated seven-slot grille.
Similar to a Wrangler, the Recon will feature doors and windows that can be removed, in addition to a motorized roof that can be opened with just one touch. The exposed door hinges are not only a characteristic of a classic style, but they also facilitate the removal of the doors in a more straightforward manner.
The under-body protection, blue tow hooks, and tough off-road tires that come standard on the Recon are all designed to fulfill the requirement that the SUV should be able to perform as well as the Wrangler does in harsh, undeveloped environments. We see the same steep approach and departure angles as well as overhangs, all of which point to the aircraft’s exceptional capability.
Although Jeep has not provided us with information on the color palette for the new Jeep Recon SUV, we have seen it in lime and bottle green, an olive color that is more outdoorsy, and a gray color that is more elegant, and all of these colors are surprisingly appropriate to the way that it appears.
Images from the press also depict a distinctive black hood with a blue frame. Additionally, we have been given the assurance that, similar to previous Jeeps, it will provide a great deal of personalization options.
Jeep Recon Dimensions
Although we do not have any official facts and statistics on the dimensions of the Jeep Recon, individuals who are knowledgeable in this area have informed us that it is very comparable in size to the Wrangler.
Despite the fact that it is a totally new packaging, the dimensions are similar. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe has a length of 188.4 inches, a width of 73.8 inches, and a height that is little more than 73.5 inches.
Because of its electric vehicle battery, the Recon is probably going to be just as substantial as the Wrangler 4xe, if not even more so. Its curb weight is around 5,100 pounds.
Pricing & Release Date
The 2024 Jeep Recon will be unveiled to the general public around the beginning of 2023. Although we do not yet have a precise release date, we anticipate that reservations will become available around the same time. It is anticipated that production will get underway in 2024.
Although we do not currently have any information on the cost of the 2024 Recon, we will continue to keep this website up to date with any new information that may become available. Other electric SUV models, such as the recently released Chevrolet Blazer EV and the soon-to-be-released Kia EV9, will provide competition for the Jeep Recon.
