2024 Kia Seltos: Is There A New Kia Seltos Coming Out? The Kia Seltos will get a significant makeover that goes beyond a simple facelift when it is introduced for the model year 2024.
That ought to come in useful considering that Seltos is one of the Kia nameplates with the lowest level of popularity, making it an ideal candidate for an update. And that is precisely what Kia has done, and then some more, leaving the Seltos with a redesigned look and interior that is almost as good as it can be without being flawless.
If we were to award star ratings right now, we’d give the 2024 Kia Seltos a score of four out of a possible five. The one remaining star will have to do until we can get our hands on the latest version of the car at the showrooms and give it a thorough inspection.
However, based on what the Korean brand has shown so far, the 2024 Seltos will have an overall premium atmosphere, which is crucial in order to break into the C-SUV market, which is saturated with competition. Midway through 2019, Kia debuted the Seltos, a new subcompact SUV that slots between the smaller Kia Soul or Kia Sonet and the bigger Kia Sportage. This positioning puts the Seltos in the sweet spot for the company.
The sport utility vehicle (SUV) that was manufactured in Korea is a worldwide product that is available in three distinct varieties for various global markets (with the exception of Europe). The bigger form (SP2) is targeted at the markets in North America and Australasia.
The Kia Seltos was given its name after the mythological son of Hercules, Celtos. According to the car manufacturer, the Kia Seltos is “one for young and techy drivers who seek a vehicle that’s not like the others.”
Kia has revealed photographs of the new exterior and upgraded interior of the Seltos for the Korean market. These images show off the vehicle’s redesigned appearance. Even while we do not yet have particular information on the United States, we are optimistic that reforms along these lines will be implemented in North America in the near future.
Since Kia has previously published information on the primarily carried-over 2023 Seltos, we believe that these revisions will make it to our shores for the 2024 model year.
The alterations that have been made to the exterior of the subcompact SUV, which has the same chassis as the Hyundai Kona, are pleasing to the eye.
The new design, which is shown here in a two-tone exterior scheme with a light blue body and a black roof, comes with redesigned daytime running lights and a grille that is marginally higher than before. Both the taillights and the appealing light bar that spans the width of the car have been upgraded. The light bar is located at the back of the vehicle.
The 2024 Kia Seltos has earned its position in Kia’s range, which is full of other cars that provide values that are comparable to those of the Seltos thanks to its fashionable appearance, roomy interior, and fun-to-drive edge. The Seltos is a model that falls between the smaller Soul and the bigger Sportage.
Despite its not-quite-subcompact size, it provides more space for cargo than competitors such as the Hyundai Kona and the Nissan Kicks. Even though we don’t have all the information just yet, we can see that the inside of the Seltos will be upgraded with improved infotainment technology as well.
This will make the Seltos even more appealing than it was before the stylistic change that will take place in 2024. Kia will provide further details closer to the on-sale date of the 2024 model, which is most likely going to fall sometime in the year 2023.
What’s New for 2024?
In 2024, it is anticipated that the Seltos will undergo an update to its appearance for both the inside and outside. Photos on this page depict the version of the Seltos designed for the Korean market; however, we anticipate the same modifications being made to the version sold in North America.
Along with new tire designs and a rear light bar that joins the taillamps, a redesigned grille and revised lighting features help to make the outside of the SUV seem more modern. It looks like the current model’s more conventional shift lever has been replaced with a rotary controller in the revised infotainment panel that is installed within the interior of the new model.
We have not yet received any information on the powertrains of the Seltos, but we will update this article as soon as we do get this information.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
When compared to the Hyundai Kona, the interior of the Toyota Seltos provides a substantially larger capacity for both passengers and baggage. The inside materials are of such a high quality and level of refinement that the vehicle could easily be shown in the showroom beside the outstanding Telluride SUV produced by the same manufacturer.
The more expensive SX model comes with inside ambient lighting as standard equipment, and this lighting can be programmed to pulse in time with the music, much like the technology that Kia provides in the more compact Soul SUV.
During our evaluation of the pre-facelift model, the cargo space readily accommodated our carry-on luggage, backpacks, and camera bag; in our testing, we were able to place eight carry-on bags in the cargo hold, and 20 when the rear seats were folded down. For the 2024 model year, we do not anticipate any changes to the amount of cargo that can be carried by the Seltos.
New display displays have been added inside, and they are designed to appear very much like those seen in many other current Kia cars. This is one of the inside upgrades. A digital gauge cluster can be seen on the left side of the same unit as the infotainment screen, which can be found on the right side.
Additionally, we saw something that seems to be a head-up display. The brown leather that is seen here may be added to the list of colors that are available for the upholstery, and ambient lighting might also become a new choice. The conventional gear lever has been replaced with a shifter in the shape of a rotary dial, however, it is unknown whether or not this feature will be included in the version sold in the United States.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Photos allow us to see that the Seltos’s infotainment system underwent significant revisions for the 2024 model year, with the introduction of a new panel that runs uninterrupted over two-thirds of the dashboard and functions as both a digital gauge display and an infotainment touchscreen.
This configuration is comparable to what other contemporary Kia vehicles have to offer, and as a result, we anticipate seeing features like as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and an on-board wi-fi hotspot.
While we wait for the revised version of the 2024 model to be released in the United States, the 2023 model of the Seltos benefits from what Kia describes as better sound deadening and other safety features. The base price for the 2023 Seltos is now set at $24,185, although there is a possibility that it may go up somewhat when the 2024 model is introduced.
At this time, the Seltos is available with either a normally aspirated 2.0-liter inline-four that produces 146 horsepower as the basic engine or a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four that produces 175 horsepower as an option. During our evaluations, the turbocharged Seltos obtained a highway fuel efficiency rating of 30 miles per gallon when driven at 75 miles per hour. We are unsure whether there will be any modifications made to the engine of the 2024 model, but Kia ought to make more information available within the next few months.
