2024 Mazda CX-50: Next-Gen Redesign & Release Date – The Mazda CX-50 Hybrid will debut in 2024 as a compact crossover SUV manufactured by Mazda. It will include seating for five people.
This off-road wagon is part of the adventure lifestyle trend that has swept the market with other vehicles such as the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, the Ford Bronco Sport, and the Toyota RAV4 Adventure, amongst many others.
The cargo area of the 2024 Mazda CX-50, which is built in the same assembly line as the Toyota Corolla Cross and shares its platform with the Mazda CX-30, is among the best in its class. We won’t be able to formulate an opinion until we have some actual driving experience under our belts, however.
2024 Mazda CX 50 Redesign
The CX-30, which eventually took the place of the smaller 2024 Mazda CX-50 on the market last year, looks to be pursuing a strategy that is comparable to that of the new model and offers many aspects that are already recognizable to the table.
Mazda asserts that the CX-50 will not replace the smaller and more luxury CX-5 as the company’s best-selling model. After that, there is this: Because it isn’t like Mazda’s other cars, the CX-50 has more in common with vehicles like the Toyota RAV4 and the Subaru Crosstrek, both of which take their design cues from the great outdoors.
Although the bulging fenders and squared-off black cladding on the wheels are reminiscent of earlier vehicles, the front and rear of the vehicle still have a more Mazda-like design.
The wing grille reaches its locations where the vertical air intakes are located, which are located below the front lights of the vehicle. The appearance of the car is altered to give the impression that it is higher off the ground by having fake skid plates attached to the ends of the bumpers.
Interior
Tan accent stitching may be used to tone down the black-on-black motif that is featured throughout the inside of the Mazda CX-9. The display panel that is positioned low on the dashboard may be controlled using a dial that is located on the console as well as buttons that are available.
It seems to be the same 8.8-inch display that is found in the CX-30, although Mazda has not supplied any information on the display’s exact dimensions. Mazda claims that it was the first carmaker to offer a panoramic sunroof as an option for the vehicle’s interior.
Engine
Engines with displacements of 2.5 liters are not anything new. The base model will be equipped with a powertrain consisting of a 2.5-liter inline-4 engine that is equivalent to the one found in the CX-30.
This engine produces 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. When utilizing 93 octane fuel, the 2.5-liter turbo-4 engine that is available in turbo variants is capable of producing up to 256 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque (87 octanes).
Both engines can maintain their power range for longer thanks to the 6-speed automatic gearbox, but the trade-off is that the cabin becomes noisier as a result. Previous all-wheel-drive Mazda crossovers are similar in that the CX-50 retains the same front struts and rear torsion beam suspension as those models.
Because it has more advanced traction control, the CX-50 is in a better position to handle off-road conditions than its competitors.
As the vehicle’s speed rises, the torque that is being applied to the vehicle’s drivetrain is transferred from the rear axle to the front wheels using a driving mode toggle located in the center console.
Some of the selectable modes are Sport, Towing, and Off-Road. Mazda feels that the connection between the two axles helps reduce oversteering as well as sliding around, which contributes to a balance that is more similar to what you’d get on a paved road.
When this evaluation was being produced, official fuel-efficiency numbers from the EPA were not available. However, Mazda estimates that the CX-50 2.5 S will get 24 miles per gallon in the city, 30 miles per gallon on the highway, and 27 miles per gallon while driving in a mixed environment.
Naturally, the fuel efficiency numbers for the CX-50 2.5 Turbo are lower, coming in at 23 mpg in the city, 29 mpg on the highway, and 25 mpg combined. When you are cross-shopping for this crossover, keep in mind that all versions of the CX-50 are equipped with all-wheel drive as standard; thus, be sure to compare identical models.
Introduction
Mazda, much like the rest of the auto industry, is in the middle of a transition. In addition to the company’s plans to introduce electric powertrains and a new vehicle architecture with rear-wheel drive, Mazda is also reorganizing its portfolio with new naming standards and working to bring its brand into a premium area. This ambitious and far-reaching objective is being carried out in part by the brand-new 2023 Mazda CX-50.
The new Mazda CX-50 is a tiny crossover SUV that will be manufactured at a brand-new plant in Huntsville, Alabama. It will go on sale concurrently with the Mazda CX-5, which is now the automaker’s best-selling vehicle. The CX-50 outdoes the CX-5 in length, width, and height, and it also has a larger trunk and better legroom in the back seats.
Moving away from the urbane attitude of the polished CX-5 and toward a more rugged demeanor, Mazda developed and manufactured the CX-50 to enable outdoor adventure. This represents a shift away from the CX-5’s sophisticated nature.
The 2.5 S and the 2.5 Turbo are two of the models that are available for the 2023 Mazda CX-50 range. Both make use of a 4-cylinder engine of 2.5 liters, although only one of them has a turbocharger.
Standard equipment includes all-wheel drive (AWD), and there are ten different trim packages available, one of which is a brand-new 2.5 Turbo Meridian Edition that won’t be available until later in the model year. The launching of the Mazda CX-50 is scheduled for the latter week of March 2024.
2024 Mazda CX 50 Release Date and Price
The crossover SUV Mazda CX-50 Hybrid comes in two trim levels: the basic model, which costs $28,025, and the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus, which costs $42,775. All variants come equipped with alloy wheels measuring 17 inches in diameter, LED headlights, keyless entry, two USB ports, and an infotainment display measuring 8.8 inches in size that is capable of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
The Turbo Premium Plus is equipped with a head-up display, heated rear seats, wireless charging for mobile devices, and seat heating and cooling as standard features. Additionally, the information display measures 10.3 inches.
