2024 Nissan Z: What’s the Deal With This Wild Nissan Z? Even though the 2024 Nissan Z was shown in its whole and officially drifted live for the first time back in January at the Tokyo Auto Salon, there is still no official confirmation on the manufacturing timetable or market entry date for the vehicle (more on this below). Nevertheless, this illustration suggests an interface for the new Z that has the “Nismo version” written all over it, and it looks great.
The Nissan Z was supposed to begin production in March (hey, there’s still one day left!) and be made available to the media in April, according to a timeline that was supposedly given to us by Nissan last month. Following that, the sales of the sports vehicle would begin in June (likely simultaneously with the first deliveries), while the launch of the extensive marketing campaign for the next product would take place in August.
The anticipated starting price of $40,000 for the 2024 Nissan Z, which would make it somewhat more accessible to consumers financially than its primary competitor, the Toyota Supra, has not yet been completely verified by the manufacturer.
Then there are the whispers regarding a more capable Nismo variant that would take the twin-turbo 3.0L V6 that is shared with the Infiniti brand and push it over the 400 horsepower output of the normal vehicle. This unofficial discussion began circulating in 2018, and it featured all-wheel drive (AWD) on the list of attributes for the Nismo.
Unfortunately, this speculation simply leads to further concerns, such as the following: will the GT-R, which is on its way out of production, continue to sit on the sidelines for a long since the aforementioned AWD undoubtedly covers its section of the market? Is it possible for an electric motor to engage the front axle?
To continue with the Supra analogy, it seems certain that the next-generation Z will come in a Nismo trim. We’d like to bring to your attention the fact that Toyota is rumored to be working on a more potent version of the Supra GRMN, despite the fact that the Japanese automaker has equipped its sportscar with a BMW turbo-four engine, whereas Nissan has not been able to offer this option on its models, at least not up to this point.

The digital artist Ted Li (aka flathat3d), who created one of the earliest, if not the first, 3D model of the new Z last year, has produced a beefed-up iteration of the JDM toy to tide us over till we receive our answers.
When we last spoke about one of his experiences, the Z and the Supra were competing in a drag race on a strip, and they had taken the drag car way. Although, this time around, Li brought a conversion that looks to be steeped in the Z car’s Nismo DNA, thus the Nismo name we chose for the project—note that the 2024 Z employed an upgraded platform of its 370Z predecessor, which, in turn, was based on the 350Z of the early 2000s.
The Mk V Supra’s design has been criticized for being cluttered and packed with false vents, whereas the design of the new Z boasts a clean look with classic inspirations.
This particular model comes equipped with a high-mount rear wing, which brings to mind the several Nismo variations that the 350Z and 370Z have had in the past (the last section of the picture collection has three 350Zs and one 370Z).
Even though the rear louvers and the tastefully restrained widebody appear to be over the top for a fictitious 2024 Nissan Z Nismo, both of these features could be offered as official accessories. These days, an increasing number of automobile manufacturers are working to capitalize on the aftermarket interest in their go-fast machines by expanding their accessory offerings.

In the meanwhile, in the real world, three-time Formula Drift Champion Chris Forsberg is now installing a GT-R twin-turbo V6 into the engine compartment of his upcoming 2024 Z sliding instrument.

The new Z is essentially a highly modified version of the 370Z, including totally new bodywork in addition to changed suspension geometry, a new powerplant, and a strengthened structure. Tamura noted with a broad sweeping motion that while a significant portion of the car’s architecture remains the same, the improvements made by Nissan make it a “different, a large difference.”
An Incredible and Extraordinary Nissan Z
The first thing that stands out about this brand-new Nissan is how intense its overall appearance is. This is also aided tremendously by the car’s having a matte black appearance, which is further accented by having glossy black aero components and wheel fenders.
The front of the Z is really dramatic since there is a large splitter that can be seen at the very front. A few aerodynamic components and winglets are located around it, and they contribute to the Nissan Z’s ability to control the flow of air over its front end. Additionally, it is aimed over the top of the wider wheel fenders.
The alterations continue as they make their way down the Nissan Z’s side. Huge fenders are attached to the front of the vehicle, which cover much larger wheels and tires. It is clear that the side skirts on the new Z come straight out and have received further refinement in terms of their aerodynamics.
This is made abundantly clear by the fact that, as one moves closer the vehicle’s rear, the skirts divide into three sections, each having winglets in the middle, in order to assist in effectively moving air over the rear wheels. The flow of air is taking place over the top of the back wheels as well as over the big new rear fenders.
The back of the car has expanded rear quarter panels, which contribute to the general JDM widebody aesthetic that this vehicle exudes. And underneath that, the most profound shift of all is taking place. Along with the front splitter, the enormous rear wing that sits neatly over the top of the rear fascia at the back of the vehicle should provide a significant amount of downforce to the vehicle as a whole.
The 2024 Nissan Z Offers Massive Power While Maintaining Its Classic Appearance
The long-awaited arrival of the new Nissan Z has arrived! Look into it, okay? It is a fitting evolution of the iconic coupe that changed the sports car world back in 1970, except that this one has 400 hp from a refined and powerful twin-turbo V6, mated to your choice of a nine-speed automatic or six-speed manual with styling cues inside and out that you can trace in your mind all the way back to that first Z you coveted in high school.

If you look at almost every kind of sports vehicle that is not a supercar, such as we did on a sales chart provided by Wards Intelligence, you will see that the market category is experiencing a decline nearly uniformly. Sales are on the rise for cars like the Chevrolet Corvette, the Subaru BRZ, and the Toyota 86 because these vehicles are relatively new and exciting.
However, the remainder of the competition in this sector, including the Camaro, the Dodge Challenger, the Ford Mustang, the Mazda MX-5 Miata, and even the Hyundai Veloster, are doing poorly. In the previous year, the old model of the Z only sold 163 units, which is likely due to the fact that prospective Z-car buyers were waiting for the new model. (On the other hand, Nissan said that sales of “sports cars” had increased by 25% since 2018, citing statistics from a business known as Urban Science.)
This drop in sales may be attributable, in part, to problems with the supply chain, COVID, and the opposition between Pluto and Uranus. According to Wards’ definition, the small- and medium-specialty vehicle segments, as well as the specialty-luxury automobile sector, each have their own unique characteristics that make them distinct from one another. That’s where all the cool automobiles are, the ones that make the editors of automotive magazines drool.
In order for automakers to be able to justify low-volume sales such as these, they need to amortize the expenses of their product’s development over a period of around ten years, while the amortization period for a CUV is just five years.
